Fairy tales are wonderful for young children. They are also fun for parents to read again too. Three brothers on their way to the forest to chop wood encounter a man who is hungry and thirsty. Two of the brothers won't share their bread and water and get hurt in the forest. The youngest brother does and is rewarded with a golden goose. The youngest brother stays at an inn run by three sisters. They try to steal his golden goose and become stuck instead. Everyone that touches them in an effort to free them gets stuck too. The Princess who has been very sad, sees this wild link of people and laughs. She wants the young brother to stay and the King offers him a challenge. If he can find someone to eat a lot of bread and drink all of the water in his cellar he can stay. The young brother goes back to the gentleman which he helped at the beginning of the story. As a result kids will enjoy a fun and enlightening story. Angeletti does a great job of bringing this old tale to new light again with flip up pages. Children love books that are interactive and stories that are lively and fun. Parents will love this book because it teaches children compassion and sharing

Although my surname sounds Italian, I don’t speak the Italian. My mother tongue is French, but I prefer to read in English. I have lived in Brazil since I was eight, but I speak Portuguese with an accent as incorrigible as it is undefined: it gives no clue to my origins as it is typical of no place. In Brazil, I studied at the English school, graduated as an Engineer at the University of Sao Paulo, chose the Brazilian nationality and obtained a Brazilian passport. Here I settled and created new roots. So this book of memoirs is a complex answer to that simple question.

World history in the context of one family's 350-year journey

“The story of an Egyptian Jew” is much more than the story of one person. It integrates world history since 70 CE, politics, economics, and culture with his family’s history over the last 350 years. The story gives insight to the word, diaspora, as it traces the movements of Sephardic Jews throughout the Iberian Peninsula, Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Alain Bigio himself is a product of the dynamics of these forces: born in Cairo, Egypt; nationality and mother tongue is French; Italian surname; and lives in Brazil.

The Journey has given me context for so many world events: St Augustine’s edict; the rise of Islam in the 7th century; Spain’s King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in 1492; Italy’s Medici family in the 1600’s; Aleppo, Syria, the destination of caravans bringing goods from the Far East in the 1700’s and 1800’s, the Suez Canal in 1869; the Ottoman Empire’s emperor’s refusal to pay government debts in 1875; England’s support for Egypt growing cotton after the supply of cotton from the US was disrupted by its Civil War; the Muslim Brotherhood, Rommel, Gamal Abdel Nasser, and Anwar El Sadat in the 1940’s; the Suez crisis in 1956; the Six-Day War in 1967; and Brazil’s dictatorship.

Discrimination against Jews and how Alain’s ancestors made their way despite it pervades the book. Alain provides an intimate view of his own life and the sense of “�tre comme il faut” (literally, “to be as one should”). Alain’s tone remains positive as he recounts sweet memories of a good life.

After reading the book, I felt I had taken a journey … disturbing as well as uplifting. Highly recommended.

The author spent a lot of time researching this book. This book gives you a great history of the Sephardic Jews throughout the times.. I also enjoyed learning about Alain's family background. He is truly a mixture of cultures. This book is a good read and I recommended to people interested in Sephardic history and culture and especially Egyptian jews. Thank you Alain for writing your story and sharing it with the world.

I liked very much the name of the book

I liked very much the name of the book:"The Journey".
I liked it because it relates to the fate of the Jewish people from the day they became a people. The novel tells the intimate story of the author's family which is altogether the story of a people that has "been on a journey" for more than three thousand years. It seems that the same set of events keeps repeating itself varying just slightly from one another. It starts with Coming to a new country, feeling safe, accepted and secure then, just when seems that it became a real homeland, A place to live in it happily ever after, they start to feel unwanted, harassment begins until it is again time to embark on a new journey.

Conflicted

My first thought about this book was that it must have been written by an Appalachian grade school dropout who speaks some sort of backwoods Ebonics. My second thought was that there's no way this thing was edited. I felt like an OCD afflicted English teacher. The spelling alone had me ready for a straight jacket. Any word that normally ends in "ed" ends with a "t" in this book. Spoilt. Learnt. The grammar wasn't any better. Normally things like this don't bother me but there was just so much of both in this book that I just REALLY wanted to stop reading it. However, since I'd started it I felt like I had to finish it. And just when I thought I couldn't take it any more, things got interesting. Suddenly I wanted to see how it ended and all those other issues with this book kind of fell into the background - or at least to the side. I'm invested enough that I will read the sequel. But I will definitely be hoping for be writing skills.

Another new MC series, and it looks to be a very good one. I enjoyed this book very much. It started off well, was fast paced and had interesting characters. It could use some editing but all in all it was very good. The story was very different and surprised me with where it was headed. I have read many MC books and have never seen this plot. I was disappointed with one part of this book, I won't spoil it for anyone who reads it but, you'll know it when you read it. Alannah was born and raised in the biker world and Cas is VP of The Lost Souls. Good couple, Good MC, Good Start, Good book.

I would give this novel about 2.5 stars.
The story just didn't work for me. It didn't hook me or draw me in. The main character, Alanna was just so annoying and came across as an immature child. There was very little character development. Also, all the bikers fawning over Alanna and calling her "Barbie" was just too cheesy for me. I rarely write reviews,but after reading the rave reviews I had to write this. I wanted a well written novel with drama,angst and connection to the characters, but this book just felt short.

Siobhan Creaton is Financial Correspondent for the Irish Times. She is co-author of Panic at the Bank, the story of the Allied Irish Bank scandal, which reprinted three times and sold 12,000 copies. She lives in Dublin.

Unbiased history of the airline and man you love to hate!

This is an excellent, well written, well edited brief history of Ryanair, and by default, Michael O'Leary. Creaton does not pull any punches when describing O'Leary's methods for dealing with conflict, but she does not take sides. Love him or hate him, O'Leary took a near-bankrupt airline and turned it into a legimate world-class carrier.

Creaton also spends a great deal of time explaining the role of Tony Ryan, and how O'Leary intially advised the Ryan's to close the airline, and only at Tony's incessant goading did O'Leary agree to take on the task of making the airline successful. Tony Ryan is as much a part of the airline as O'Leary, although much more low key.

Michael O'Leary is a lot of things...and he would be the first to admit it. When accussed of being Tony Ryan's bagman, O'Leary replied, "I've always been Tony Ryan's bagman!"

Creaton clearly conducted extensive interviews and an enormous amount of research to write this book, and it shows. Give it a read!
